Listen.

All I want is a prolemuris. Is that too much to ask?

I dare you to refuse him.  What an adorable snuggleborg.

Out With the Old...

So my big New Year project is redecorating my bedroom. Since I'm a loser and still live at home, I figured I could at least revamp it enough so that it doesn't look like it was decorated by a thirteen year old (which it had been!) I've been obsessing over sites like Design*Sponge and Apartment Therapy to get ideas, and I'm pretty sure my Anthropologie Stalker Status is on a full red alert. (everything's so so pretty!) Anyway, here's what my room looked like before:

As you can see, it was pretty bad, even though I have some pretty cool stuff (like the vintage White Album poster you can see above my bed). Anyway, here's my little collage of things I want it to be filled with when I'm done:

I had totally forgotten about Polyvore and how time-sucking it is until, oh, about two hours ago.

Anyway, it's been a pretty absorbing project, which is great because it distracts me from my lack of a job, but terrible because it also distracts me from sending out my resume. Oh well! I'm determined that something good should happen just because it's a New Year, and although a recent series of drastically unfortunate events has tried to disprove this theory of mine, there is hope yet!

Welcome to Spinebound!

Hi! Welcome to Spinebound. My name is Heather and I’m a 22 year old publishing student in New York City who hasn’t had a blog since her high school Livejournal. I love books and the book industry, but also Buffy the Vampire Slayer, greyhounds, Dr. House, my Volvo, and pickles.

Why Spinebound? Well, because I wanted to start a blog that will not only force me to keep myself informed about the World of Book Publishing, and because I really, really love word puns (especially the truly awful ones). But I also love this name because books really do have the capability to spellbound the reader by transporting her (or him) to a different place or time or into someone else’s head, and that’s what I love about them so much. Oh, and also Education, and Art, and the Serious Topics people write about.

Anyway, there will be book-related posts (books I’m reading, books I want to read, books that are making news, etc.) but this also needs to be about ME, so expect some of that. (Maybe I should have named it Soapbox?) I’m seriously new at blogging and Blogspot, so if anyone has any tips or suggestions or wants to tell me how stupid a name they think “Spinebound” is, feel free to leave a comment.

Happy 2010!

Heather
